Durham School’s Workplace of Analysis Providers, Innovation and Entrepreneurship receives $300,000 grant

The Office of Research Services, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ORSIE) at Durham College has received more than $ 300,000 from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

The money comes from the SSHRC’s College and Community Social Innovation Fund (CCSIF).

According to the college, the funds will help support the recently opened center of applied research for social innovation: the Social Impact Hub.

The center will develop a support model that addresses social issues affecting parents with intellectual and / or developmental disabilities.

“We are very grateful for the support from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the CCSIF Fund,” said Debbie McKee Demczyk, Dean of ORSIE. “This project is a prime example of why we created the Social Impact Hub – so Durham College can leverage faculty expertise, student talent and strong partnerships with the community to deliver creative solutions to complex social challenges through leaders to find social innovation projects and initiatives. “
